Roots and Shoots: Exploring Plant Parts and Their Many Uses- Food and Farmacy from the Garden

In this session, we'll explore all six plant parts and the many ways we use them for food and health. The foundation for this week's experiences will be in our garden- exploring, tasting, harvesting and preparing. We'll create recipes to try various textures and flavors different plant parts have to offer (starchy potatoes, tender greens, juicy cucumbers) and healthful concoctions for our bodies (teas, oils, lip balms and more). We will take a field trip to visit a local farm where we will learn to forage for wild edible and medicinal plants and get to learn from an expert in the field. All participants will get to take home a basket of their home-made goodies at the end of the week.
